I have been doing a lot of research lately on what is happening with the wave of Muslim refugees entering Europe. Instead of reacting to this development I have taken up the mandate to pray for their salvation knowing that many are utterly frustrated with the religion of their birth. I can sense that God is going to bring many to Jesus, and in turn use them to revitalise the stagnant church of Europe. My duty, and yours if you love Jesus, is to pray for their salvation.
Here are a few news snippets to show you what is going on.
Trinity Lutheran Church in Berlin has seen its numbers more than triple to 700 during 2016, all from Muslims seeking the “religion of freedom”. It now has 1,200 members from the Middle East, mainly Afghanistan and Iran, It is the fastest growing Lutheran church in Germany
One Anglican bishop in England says that one out of four of the confirmations he performs are for Muslims converting to Christianity.
Earlier this year, churches in Berlin and Hamburg reportedly held mass conversions for asylum seekers at municipal swimming pools.
Austrian Catholic church logged 300 applications for adult baptism in the first three months of 2016, with the Austrian pastoral institute estimating 70% of those converting are refugees.
At Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral in the UK, a weekly Persian service attracts between 100 and 140 people. Nearly all are migrants from Iran, Afghanistan and elsewhere in central Asia
One in four confirmations conducted by the bishop of Bradford, Toby Howarth, over the past year were of converts from Islam. Most were Iranian and most of those were asylum seekers.
Large numbers are also reportedly coming to Jesus in Denmark, again, mostly from Iranian backgrounds.
It is instructive that many refugees coming to Jesus are from Iran. Iran is home to the world’s fastest growing branch of Christianity at around 20% compound per year. Their government has created mass dissatisfaction with Shia Islam as it rules with an iron fist in the name of Shia. Many refugees say that a religion that began with violence cannot lead people to freedom, truth and love.
Perhaps God will use a very unorthodox method to awaken Europe. Especially when you see the miraculous starting to come back into normal church activities.
God is GOOD!
